Yes, with just a couple of things in your pantry, you can make light or dark brown sugar when you need it.
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon molasses (use up to 2 tablespoons for dark brown sugar)
- In a small bowl, combine the sugar and molasses until the molasses is thoroughly combined and no clumps remain. This may take a while, but hang in there.
- Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.
If you're watching your sugar intake, use 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup Splenda.
The sugar and molasses can be combined using a mixer, but use the whisk attachment, so the sugar doesn't become powdered.
