We still have milk delivery too. Actually, there are two different dairies that will deliver in this area, so I guess we are fortunate in that respect!

Believe it or not, here in Albany, we still have milk delivery.. .in aluminum boxes and glass bottles. We have a dairy farm in a nearby quasi-rural area that delivers.

And the milkman loves my dogs too!
I've never had snow icecream, but I have been known to pour maple syrup over fresh snow and let it get "chewey" I got this from reading my Little House in the Big Woods book when I was a kid. Never forgot. Incidentally, it works with honey too.. nom nom nom

Our local Hannaford Grocery Stores do a program called "Fund a Feast" For $10.00 you buy a box that has products in in that the local food pantry has said that it needs the most. Each store donates to a different food pantry.

I know it's not easy to find $10.00 for a lot of folks these days... I have been very fortunate this year. Last year at this time, they laid off 1/2 our production staff. Thanks to the first time homebuyer tax credit, our office was booming again. Last year's troubles, I think really sunk home how tough it is out there. I'm officially on a yarn diet. Yarn money now goes to Fund a Feast.

I don't usually comment on web sites but had to on yours. You have a very unique writing style. A lot of people don't have that touch, they just drone on and on in the most boring way. But not you - thanks! I can't wait to try out some of the recipes you have here (after a trip to the market to get the ingredients). Cooking is my favorite hobby. I don't have time to read it all right now, I found this site when looking for something else on Google, but I've bookmarked your home page and will check back soon to see the latest recipes. Visit my site if you'd like to read more. Thanks again!

My grandma has amazing kitchen things that my grandpa buys her and she never uses. Like her awesome kitchenaid stand mixer. When I went out on my own, got married, became an avid baker, I begged her for one. I told her "don't pay to fix my car, we have two. No, take the 3000 dollars and keep it, if you wanna buy me something, buy me a stand mixer"
She told me I wouldn't want a kitchenaid stand mixer, she told me they're horrible, they suck, that the beater doesn't get into the corners of the bowl. But she didn't fool me, I'M the one she made to use the mixer when we cooked at her house!!
She bought be a 10 dollar stand mixer from wal-mart and it freakin sucks.
I know why she did it though.
Because she's senile.
Has to be, right??

Not sure if it helps, but we usually get the FoodSaver bags at Sam's Club. They have a large box of them that has a few rolls of the big bags and the small bags.

I love my FoodSaver, but I have to admit it is a pain pulling it out of the cupboard all the time. I'd love to leave it out, too, but as you know, counterspace is premium real estate!

If you try out the hand-held FoodSaver, please blog about it. I'd love to know how it works.
